MEETING NOTES

August 26, 2009 - Kim Beefield of the Alliance for Children spoke on how her organization helps abused children
- Attendance 30 members, 9 guests. Received applications for two new members, we are now at 50 members.
August 12, 2009

-Milton Glen gave a report on the district convention
-The Stalcup award was presented to John Nathan who will be going to Trinity.
- Coach Wasson spoke and did the actual presentation to Nathan.
- Attendance: 30 members, 26 guests.

July 22, 2009

- Members were encouraged to attend the Division Council Meeting and the District Convention
- Curtis reviewed the new committees that are being created.
- Babs Troutman from the Lake Dallas Boys & Girls Club gave the program. We intended to give her a check for $5,000, but it was misplaced. She will receive the money shortly. She also thanked the club for the donation of left over concession items. Her kids used these for their own successful fundraiser. She said there was also a need for donated balls and sports equipment, and volunteer hours.

July 8, 2009

- Discussion was held on the new committees
- Milt gave a report on the Kiwanis International convention that he and Ed attended
- Lowell Strike updated the members on the high school leadership forum that Bill Webb is putting together
- Ben Howard of the Dallas office of the Salvation Army spoke to the club about the Salvation Army.
-Attendance: 25 members, 5 guests

June 24, 2009 - Coach Rick spoke on his new book

June 10, 2009

- The club raised $3,800 from the 7 On 7 tournament last Saturday and donated leftover food to the Lake Dallas Boys and Girls Club.
- The club presented a $10,000 check to the Battered Women's Foundation of Bedford from our 5K race.
- The speaker today was author Deborah Scaling Kiley who talked about being a survivor in our society.
- Attendance: 22 members, 8 guests. We had an interclub visit from Robson Ranch.
- Pictures of the 5K run have been added to the website 5K pictures

May 27, 2009 - The 7 on 7 concession stand is this Saturday, Dave Folsom is organizing the effort
- The following new members were inducted into Kiwanis; Kevin Hugman, Suzi Thorne, Stacy Geigenmiller, Bill Webb,and Mike Tesoriero
- Milt Glenn gave a new member orientation
